The city of Paris hosted the First General Assembly and Annual Conference of IPCEI Med4Cure, a key event for the European pharmaceutical sector. Held at the Ministère de l’Économie, des Finances, de la Souveraineté industrielle et numérique, the event brought together representatives from the European Commission, Member States, and leading research and innovation companies to discuss the future of the healthcare industry in Europe.
A Key Event for Health Innovation
The day began with the General Assembly, exclusive to IPCEI Med4Cure members, where organizational issues were addressed, and the strategic objectives of the project were defined. During the afternoon session, the Annual Conference was open to a broader audience and focused on the industry’s major challenges, featuring panels on innovation in essential medicines, cell technologies and RNA-based production.
Key figures in the sector, such as Michel Rao, Director of Health Industries at the French Ministry of Industry and Economy, and Laurent Muschel, Director-General of DG HERA, participated in the event. Representatives from companies like EuroAPI, Takis, Sanofi, Biotalentum and OncoDNA also took part among others.
Sylentis’ Participation in the Annual Conference
As a direct partner of IPCEI Med4Cure, Sylentis played a prominent role in the event. In the panel discussion “Leveraging RNA-based development and process innovation: European models of innovation,” Ana Isabel Jiménez, Managing Director of Sylentis, shared the company’s experience in developing RNA-based therapies. Alongside experts from Sanofi, Sensible Biotechnologies, and OncoDNA, Ana Isabel highlighted the opportunities presented by therapeutic oligonucleotides, including siRNAs, ASOs and miRNAs.
“We are developing innovative bioconjugation strategies for targeted RNA drug delivery in the cornea and retina, expanding therapeutic possibilities for diseases with unmet medical needs,” stated Ana Isabel.
As part of its involvement in IPCEI Med4Cure, Sylentis is working on producing GMP batches of chemically modified RNA in compliance with sustainability standards. To achieve this, the company collaborates with different partners to optimize processes, reducing reagent consumption, and improving solvent recovery.
“Our commitment is to develop sustainable production processes that ensure the scalability and quality of our therapeutic oligonucleotides and the CDMO products,” said Jiménez. Additionally, Sylentis reinforced its commitment to knowledge dissemination through initiatives such as the launch of SYOLIGO website, presence on LinkedIn, and participation in key events.
The event also featured the presence of Carmen Eibe, Director of the Project Coordination Department at Pharma Mar Group, the parent company of Sylentis. Her attendance reaffirmed the company’s commitment to innovation, competitiveness and the development of new therapies.
IPCEI Med4Cure represents a fundamental initiative to establish Europe as a leader in developing new therapies and healthcare solutions, and Sylentis’ participation reinforces its position as a key player in RNA-based therapeutic research and manufacturing.
